CaseFoundation.org on the Amazon Cloud
Business Objective: Periodic, high-volume campaigns meant that the Case Foundation was paying for server capacity only sometimes needed. On-demand servers from the Amazon Cloud promised more capacity at less cost.
Technical Challenges:
- Scaling to handle expected traffic from the press
- Reproducible deployment of code and server configurations
- A seamless transition to the new infrastructure
Technical Solution: Liferay and, eventually, Drupal installations. Built to scale on Amazon’s EC2 cloud servers and S3 filesystem. This presentation, from Drupalcon, explains our design constraints and method.
